How to Treat a Cold
I have got a cold right now and I've noticed some ways that help you treat your cold. Having a cold isn't fun at all, sometime it gets in the way of work or school. The best ways to treat a cold may be simpler then you think. Sometimes the answer is right in front of you.
Get Enough Rest
You want to get enough rest because rest gives the body time to repair itself. The body only repairs it self when you rest. You want to have enough energy to repair it. The amount of rest that you get can decide of how fast you get rid of the cold. Believe me, having a cold just sucks and I want to get rid of it as fast as possible. I have lots of things going on, it has to be gone otherwise I might have to miss work!
Get your Vitamin C
Vitamin C will help the immune system and will make you feel better. If you take Vitamin C capsules, then you want to make sure you are hydrated because other wise it could be bad. I recommend just getting your Vitamin C from an orange or in juice. I have been drinking juice that says it's 100% vitamin c. It is more enjoyable eating an orange or drinking juice rather then just taking capsules.
Cough Medicine will make you feel better
By taking the nasty taking cough medicine, it will make you feel a lot better. Just try not to take it if you will be driving or something because it makes me drowsy, everyone's different so just be cautious. This will help the running nose and sore throat. It always helps a bunch of other stuff but them are the main ones.
Soup
Soup won't really help but it may help you feel better. It will be easy to digest and will make you warmer. It also tastes good and is easy to eat. Theirs nothing worse then not being able to eat because you are sick. It also should be able to stay down more then more of the solid foods. Test and see if you like soup. Chicken Noodle is a good one to start with.
Get enough rest, Vitamin C, don't to a lot of anything, and maybe have some soup. You should be feeling better in no time. Rest is probably the most important thing you can do. Take it easy for a while and before you know it, you will be yourself again. I think I'm gonna go take a nap!

The Flu
When you get the flu you know you have or are getting it by, runny nose, sore throat, a pretty good cough, exhaustion and weakness and muscle aches and pains. When you start to get this symptoms you want to go into preventive measures as soon as possible. You want to drink plenty of fluids like water, orange and Gatorade. I would try to drink a little of each. Make sure you get a good nights rest and continue to rest to get over this flu. Try to rest but as you all know most of us have jobs that we have to go to and we can't stay home unless we are really sick with the flu. Do what you can. Just rest and relax, maybe turn on some relaxing music or play that favorite video game. Watch your fever, and call a doctor if it gets out of control. People with weak immune systems like the elderly should contact their doctor with any indication of the flu. Your going to want to blow your nose often to keep the air ways open. Try taking a hot shower, that might make you feel better, that is what I always do because I love my hot showers. Try drinking some hot liquids or having a bowl of soup, that always hits the spot. You will want to stay away from caffeine, cigarettes or alcohol when you are sick, the flu will feed on it. Another thing that will help is washing your hands a lot, getting rid of all them germs. If you didn't get your flu shot, that could have prevented it and you may not even go the flu. Make sure you get plenty of rest and drink lots of fluids, I hope you feel better and just relax and try to enjoy yourself.
