Meditating Takes you on a Vacation

Meditating is relaxing, taking the thinking mind into deeper state of relaxation and awareness. The goal of meditating is to focus the mind and quiet the mind. You should to to meditate once a day if you can. You can meditate at anytime and anywhere. This will put you in a better mood. Try not to meditate following a meal because you will become distracted with hunger. Try to find a quiet environment or create one. Turn off TVs, phones, or any other noisy appliances. Try lighting candles or maybe even playing that easy listening music you like. I like to listen to waterfalls and river sounds and that calms me down. I have this rainstorm CD I listen to from time to time and that is really relaxing for me. You can meditate outside but you want to find someplace quiet, not by a busy street or anything like that. I have never tried this but this is something I might, try putting some earplugs in to block out the noise of everything around you. Sit on level ground to keep your back straight, if you are uncomfortable, use a cushion. Keep your back straight will help with your breathing. You can meditate in a chair or any other position as long as your back is straight. Keep your eyes half way open and focus on nothing. If you can now do this, then you are going to want to close your eyes. Breath deeply from your abdomen not your chest. Inhale for a count of 3 and exhale for a count of 6. This is healthy breathing and it will lower your blood pressure and relieve stress. Relax every muscle in your body, don't be in a hurry, start with one muscle and work to the other until they are all relaxed and you feel good. To overcome verbal chatter, you are going to want to say a word such as "aum" , or you can even just do it in your mind, which ever you prefer. Take your mind to somewhere peaceful that relaxes you. Silence your mind, clearing your mind of any thoughts. This take great discipline but once achieved it should become easier. You may notice that you become calmer and sharper, it is easier to deal with things. This will come with time, it will not come right away. This is why you should set a time each day to meditate. It helps relieve stress and improves concentration. It can even lower health risks, it does not guarantee good health but it could lower the risks. It gives you happiness and a peace of mind. It may even help you discover the purpose of life. Why not give 15 minutes of your time to meditation, it may help you in such ways that are unexpected and in ways you cannot explain. It could give you happiness and peace of mind. Giving you a vacation away from this world that can be so stressful at times. Give it a try and see what meditation could do for you!
