Mothers always say, Eat all your Fruits and Vegetables. I never could figure out why they were that important. Most of the time I would eat them but sometimes I would say forget it. Now as I grow older, I understand why it is so important.
They not only taste good, they do a whole bunch of things. They help prevent chronic diseases. They have many antioxidants,minerals and phytochemicals. These keep your blood sugar in check, create energy and strengthen the immune system.
Each color found in both fruits and vegetables, makes the immune system to stronger in different ways. This is why you want a big variety of colors in your diet.
Green foods help the circulatory system. They also have anti-cancer minerals in them. Red foods help the skin and they help prevent prostate problems. Orange foods help prevent cancer by repairing our DNA. The green/yellow foods help prevent developing cataracts and macular degeneration. Orange/Yellow foods help prevent heart disease and prevent inflammation. White/Green foods are like antibiotics, they help the body. Red/Blue/Purple foods have a lot of powerful antioxidants, and it also prevents heart disease.
They are really good for you and they will help keep you healthy. They will build your immune system strong and prevent a lot of things. These are just a few of the many things Fruits and Vegetables will do for you.
So the next time someone says, "Eat your Fruit and Vegetables", you will know exactly why.
